Ultrasound of the infant hip
Hip sonography is an important preventive examination for newborns. With the help of sonography, possible malformations of the hip can be detected early and treated gently. In our practice, we use a modern, high-resolution ultrasound machine for this purpose.
When is the examination carried out?
The examination is usually carried out between the 4th and 6th week of life as part of the U3 examination. If there are risk factors such as breech presentation or a family history, it can also be carried out earlier.
In the event of abnormalities
Mild malformations can usually be treated well with simple measures such as braces. The earlier the diagnosis is made, the better the chances of recovery.

An ultrasound examination of the abdomen can be useful if there are indications of possible organic causes, for example in the case of:
- Unclear abdominal pain or digestive problems
- Abnormalities as part of the preventive medical check-ups
- for acute abdominal pain we take time for you and your child and discuss all steps clearly.
